Finding and joining events

Families can browse public events, use the map to find nearby activities, and use the calendar to plan around dates that are coming up soon. Trusted private events may require invite-led access so details are only shared with appropriate members.

When you join a free event, the event is added to your joined list immediately. When you book a paid event, HE Connect waits for payment confirmation before marking you as joined.

Hosting

Creating and managing events

Hosts can create free or paid events, add location details, set attendee capacity and manage their attendees from the host dashboard. Recurring events are grouped so a weekly class or regular meet-up feels like one series rather than scattered duplicate listings.

Paid events from new or unverified hosts may be reviewed before going live. This helps reduce spam, scam listings and low-quality posts while keeping families safer.

Payments

Paid bookings and service fees

Where payment features are enabled, attendees pay through secure checkout. The ticket price and HE Connect service fee are shown before payment so families can understand the final price before committing.

Hosts who charge for events need a connected Stripe account so ticket funds can be routed correctly. HE Connect does not store full card details.

Do I need an invite?

Public events can be discovered more openly. Trusted private areas use invite-led access so sensitive community details are not exposed to everyone.

Can organisers charge for events?

Yes. Where payment features are enabled, organisers can create paid events with clear pricing, attendee records and secure checkout. HE Connect applies a transparent service fee to paid bookings to help support the platform, payment processing and organiser tools.

Why is my paid event pending review?

Paid events from newer or unverified hosts may be reviewed before appearing publicly. This protects families, reduces scam risk and helps maintain event quality.

When does a paid attendee appear as joined?

Only after Stripe confirms the payment through HE Connect’s webhook. A browser redirect alone is not treated as proof of payment.

Why do recurring events appear as a series?

A weekly or monthly event is grouped so hosts can manage the whole series while families still see the individual dates they can attend.

Does HE Connect replace parental judgement?

No. Parents and carers remain responsible for checking suitability, supervision expectations, travel, venue details and any individual needs before attending.
